Get creative with your patterns and learn how to adapt a basic body block. Practice dart manipulation, create style lines and learn other methods of adding fullness and shape. We will also look at necklines, armholes, openings, pockets, hems and edge finishes. Add the important information to a pattern including seam allowance, cutting instructions, grain line and notches to create a neatly finished pattern. We will be working in half scale to practice these techniques.
Please contact us for more information or to book your place.
I look forward to seeing you! Sue 🧡

You will have access to three files, The Instructions file, the Print at Home file and the A0 file. The instructions can either be printed off or opened and viewed on a screen. The print at home file is designed to be printed using a home printer on either A4 or Letter size papers. The A0 file is designed to be printed on a large format printer and can therefore be sent to a pattern printing company.
I recommend using the free software, Adobe Acrobat Reader to open and view your pattern files. There have been some instances where files have been opened into a different PDF reader and the program has changed the document settings and therefore the pattern it has not printed to scale. If this happens, you should delete the file, download again then open into Adobe Acrobat Reader instead.
These are the correct printer settings for the "Print at Home" files:
Within the pattern instructions you will find a diagram of how the pages should fit together to make the whole pattern. There will be one sheet with a 10cm x 10cm and 4" x 4" test square. Print this sheet only and measure the square to check the printer settings are correct. If you are certain the square is measuring correctly you can go ahead and print the remaining sheets.
Arrange the sheets as indicated in the instructions and join the sheets by matching the triangles on the edges to form diamond shapes. I suggest you trim one of the edges you plan to join along the matching line then lay this onto it's adjoining sheet. I like to use Scotch Magic Tape and masking tape as these can be moved fairly easily if you make a mistake and can also be drawn over. I like to place small pieces of tape onto the right sides of each sheet along the join then a bigger piece of tape along the wrong side of the join.
If you would rather not be taping sheets of paper together, remember that for any of our patterns you also have the option of purchasing a printed copy of the A0 file. Just select the "PDF Plus Printed Copy" in the FORMAT box and add it to your cart. We aim to print and post within two working days of receiving your order. You will receive the large scale (A0) pattern printed on 60gsm paper which can be easily cut and pinned but is not fragile. The instructions are NOT printed. The patterns arrive in a reusable envelope with a string and washer opening to store your pattern in.
Any problems with opening and downloading files, printing at home or purchasing paper copies please do get in touch and we will gladly be of help.
We are also now offering a friendly and personal Pattern Printing Service for patterns you have purchased from any pattern company. Just email hello@fieldworkpatterns.co.uk for further information.

Sophia is a flattering wrap dress, with a halter neck and waist ties, perfect for summer! This style takes approximately 260cm of light to medium weight woven fabric and 60cm of 1cm wide elastic.
Would you like to join our friendly pattern tester group? We are looking for a small number of sewers with a variety of sewing abilities and ages to join the group. This style is our first to go from UK sizes 6-24. I aim to send the PDF pattern and instruction files to all testers by the end of January with the aim of having tests completed within three weeks.
When testing, it would be helpful to fully read through the instructions before starting the trial and to give feedback throughout the process. I am always grateful for all comments and suggestions from the tester group as they can only help to improve the pattern.
I am unable to offer payment for pattern testing at present but if you are UK based, I would like to offer a printed copy of any pdf sewing pattern you have purchased, from any pattern company, as a thank you for your time and effort. You are also of course welcome to a copy of the final pattern and will hopefully enjoy making many more versions.
If you would like to take part, please fill in the questionnaire and I will get back to you soon.
